Censo Campaign 2024 17 (1)

Do you want to be part of an ambitious and growing team?

Censo is a team of energetic professionals committed to making businesses in the Netherlands more sustainable. While our core focus is on energy consumption in organizations and buildings, we also have the expertise and intrinsic motivation to help organizations become more sustainable in other areas as well. We do this with nearly 200 professionals from various locations, across a wide range of sectors, serving both private and public organizations.

Our mission is to support the sustainability journey of Dutch businesses and be the trusted partner for entrepreneurs and management teams facing the complex energy and sustainability challenges of today and tomorrow. It’s a big task — and that’s where you come in. We are currently looking for a Lead Developer .NET.

We are a fast-growing company, and we believe in creating space for a diverse range of employees. Diversity within an organization leads to more creativity, innovation, and better problem-solving. Every perspective matters! That’s why we encourage candidates to apply regardless of age, gender, religion, cultural background, employment history, or sexual orientation.

Your Role

As a Lead Developer, you'll be part of a product development team consisting of five developers, a DevOps engineer, a test engineer/scrum master, a UX designer, and a product owner.

In this role, you'll play a crucial role in developing the Censo platform. Our platform processes large amounts of data, which we translate into relevant insights into our clients' energy management. By contributing to this process, you'll make a meaningful impact on a greener future.

As an experienced Lead Developer, you'll play a key role in developing high-quality software that optimally meets the sustainability needs of Censo clients. Your technical expertise and proactive approach are essential to the success of our organization.

In your role as Lead Developer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development team: You will be the driving force behind architectural decisions. You will collaborate with the team of .NET developers to design, develop, test, and implement a high-quality, scalable, and maintainable platform for the energy transition.
  • Quality assurance: You will collaborate with team members to ensure code quality by conducting code reviews and implementing software development best practices.
  • Result Ownership: You are actively involved in the development, contributing ideas and helping to refine requirements so that the end result aligns with the customer's needs.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: You work closely with other teams within Censo to realize sustainable solutions. Clear communication is key.
  • Mentoring and Knowledge Sharing: You provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the development team.
  • Long-Term Technical Vision: You align the technical strategy with the product vision, thinking ahead about scalability, maintenance, and innovation.

What You Bring

  • You have experience as a lead developer and at least 5 years of experience as a .NET developer or a similar role.
  • You have proven experience designing, implementing, and optimizing data-driven applications and implementing APIs.
  • You are strong in solving complex technical issues.
  • You have experience with most of the following: .NET, C#, Azure, Entity framework, Rest, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Atlassian, Git, Docker, Solid development, Design patterns, Domain Driven Design, Agile/Scrum, Kubernetes.
  • You value ownership of your work, from design to implementation in a production environment.
  • You have an affinity for sustainability and identify with our mission.
  • A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. IT, engineering, software development).
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve complex technical problems and devise practical solutions.
  • You enjoy working in a team and foster a positive and supportive atmosphere.
  • You speak and write English well; understanding Dutch is a plus.

Research shows that some candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while others do so at 60%. Our advice: if you’re in doubt, apply anyway!

What We Offer

  • The chance to make your mark on the sustainability of Dutch businesses and create real, visible impact;
  • 25 vacation days, with the condition that you come back with great stories; and the option to exchange 3 Christian holidays for 3 non-Christian ones;
  • Fun, driven, and entrepreneurial colleagues – we’re the most enjoyable energy and sustainability experts in the Netherlands;
  • A salary between €4.672,- en €7.187,- (depending on your skills and experience);
  • Travel allowance and pension plan (no employee contribution);
  • From day one: the freedom and trust to take on responsibility and show initiative;
  • A flat, informal organization where you wear what you like and share a beer or soda with the boss (who doesn’t like to be called "boss");
  • A behind-the-scenes view of a fast-growing organization;
  • Time to get to know your colleagues over drinks, a game of darts or foosball, or a team lunch;
  • Hybrid work, partly from home partly from our location near Den Bosch Central Station. This is a new central location from which we will operate all of Censo starting in January 2026.
